Hi.

Not a pretty face but....

Is this a viable way of making a variable chassis ?
Made the connection rods separate. So you can make new if you brake some or want to make some even longer or in other material.

Is the triangle shape the best shape for rigidity ?
At the moment in 1:32 version.

Kim,
I assume you are trying to design a chassis with an adjustable wheelbase. Are you considering making the chassis in 2 sections, a front section and a back section? Then you are wondering how to connect the 2 sections. Is that correct?
First note, based on my experience and testing, a rigid chassis is not desirable for a track with any bumps or banked corners. A 1:32 car will perform better if one front wheel can easily lift up about 2 millimeters off of a smooth flat surface while the other 3 wheels remain in contact with the surface. Think of it as independent front suspension.
I would suggest that you use one steel rod about 1.5 millimeter in diameter, to connect the front and back sections. Locate this rod on the centerline of the chassis just above the floor of the chassis. Include stops on both sides of the chassis to limit how far the front section can rotate relative to the back section. The best kind of steel rod would be the kind used to make the track. It just has to have a larger diameter. The steel won’t break and probably won’t bend. It’s cheap and easy to replace if it does bend.
Good luck.

I'll se how this works out. Useing my 3D printed triangle bars. But I agree NED, some flex works best.

Putting a center rod will be difficult with this design but if my present 'bars' does not work it will be an easy change to use wire bars.

Cutting when you have set your length and make sure the 2 parts are square then a few drops of glue.
