concept 1

Post by Smittoh »

Took some time to play around in sketch up and do a little conceptual layout today.
The idea is to use a 4x8 XPS board that is cut in half. I would like the track to be light weight, modular and (hopefully) easily taken apart and put together.
Attached a few images.
PS- the disconnect in the track pieces are my crappy modeling skills they are not intended as separate pieces (only the 2 base pieces are intended to come apart and the bridge)

cheers!

Have you given any thought to how you'd hold the pieces together? If they're placed on a smooth firm surface like a floor, magnets might work.

Yeah... I was thinking the same thing.
Also... It might be quite easy to do some Velcro straps that in theory should hold nicely....
Plus you'd be able to adjust the tension if needed.
Thanks for the advice as well as all the great stuff you've posted.

Cheers!

Just a little more fun...
Shaping a test piece of XPS and exhibiting inept motoring.
Good Times!

Sticking to some of the basic concepts of before but leaning toward the precept of K.I.S.S. (keep it simple ...stupid)
Hopefully attaining this by loosing the complexity of super space saving and designing a track that will fun to race on (hopefully and easier to put together!
I think I like the general direction Im heading.
I would have more fill around raised areas of the track but got lazy modeling this.
:)
