My question is if we choose to not send our present cars back for refit, will they still be compatible with the new stuff that we buy in the future? I'm thinking of how Carrera's Pro X vs D132 digital slot car racing where all of a sudden the original digital equipment became obsolete. Will we still be able to mix and match cars and controllers freely?

The update to Reverse is for each car and can not have any influence for the "old" cars.
But if so, I guess wee should have the opportunity too upgrade the transmitter on the same way as wee do with Slot.It oXigen.
I should of course have tested before I send my "old" cars back to England. Sorry for missing that.
But ewerything else is transparent in my mind!
But I realy like the feature with reverse, its another thing to drive.
