Stretched magracer

Post by Raudi1 »

Many if not most of the modern GT3 and LMP bodies have a wheelbase longer than the pre wing Can Am era cars that have been magracing's staple. Luckliy it is much easier to lengthen this chassis than shorten it. Therefore I'm including a series of photos illustrating a simple and inexpensive method of stretching a magracer.

In this case I'm lengthning it to fit TrueScale's Bentley Speed 8. I've noted that adding 7mm to a stock 76mm fits not only this body but also numerous other slot car bodies we have purchased.

First pop the motor off and remove the rear axel and gear. After cutting the chassis just in front of the axel uprights, I've added a rectangular piece of .040 sheet styrene and reglued the 3 pieces back together. Reinstall the wheels and axel and reglue the motor and your ready to go.
