Routing a Magracing track.

Post by kiklo »

Hi. I am starting testing with a new way of laying down the magline. I am having trouble getting the 'Keld metode ' consistent and good enough.

Going to route a 4mm track then 3d print a 4 X 4mm infill with the magwire within.

Altenate printing with magnetic pla and see if I can get the right tracktion.
Also thinking of printing lanechangesections with mag.pla.

I will be back with progress if any....

Routing the OSB board is a nightmare. Due to the uneven structure it is impossible to get some nice straight routing.

So instead of struggling i used a 6 mm bit and let it slip-slide, thinking it would leave a useful track of 4 mm in the middle.
It seems to work I just have to cut the worst places with an x-acto knife.
The uneven track will hold the pla-track n place.
Some pic.

I think you are making an easy job difficult Kim. Glue the wire down - plaster it level. Job done!

You are probably right Wes, but not everyone has a black belt in plastering.

That OSB board aint worth to use, throw it out an buy a mdf. And stop waiting time with that printing.

When i can get a good driwing 1/24 i will use my lasercutter to make the slot to the wires, it is easy to do and very precise.

Sure Keld, MDF is way better, I just had these leftover by hand.
And these sections I make are reusable, I can just pop them out and use them om a new track.
BTW when you use laser, can you cut a slot only or will you cut all through?

Track layout is down. Now spotguing and some infill at the worst spots along the track.

No way you can drop plastering on OSB boards. ☺️
