Re: NASCAR Ovals
As long as the driver can chose line, its not nesseserly that the line is equal. In fact, there chould be one quicker if you as driver take some dissisions. And the default line chould always be slower. That is MagRacing! Bravo. What you say is true Lasp but there is an exception on oval tracks. Na...

Re: NASCAR Ovals
Sketch shows current layout. There are racing lines on the outer lane but not on the inner. Just one lh and one rh lane change and the pit l/c. The thinking at present is to make the track easy to drive and to minimise lane changing collisions. Racing next week should teach us a lot more. Oval trac...

Oval Track Builds Show Them Here
I thought I would start an open thread for those who have built or are planning on building dedicated oval tracks for their MAGracing cars. Hopefully this will leave Wes's Nascar Oval thread open to his announcements on the new Nascar car and oval system which he is developing. So here it is, I'd lo...

Re: NASCAR Ovals
To Nor Cal Mike; My modular 1/4 mile track set up in the driveway on 6 saw horses, complete with outer wall and infield in just 2 hours. The sections are all the same being cut out of a 4x8 sheet of plywood. each has 1/2 a straight & 1/2 of a turn. The modules weigh around 20lb. I have some pic...

Re: NASCAR Ovals
There is a fellow here in the states by the name of Jim Heller who makes a wide variety of Nascar decals. He sells on ebay. If you do a search of is name you will find his ebay store.

Re: NASCAR Ovals
Good to know about the bodies. Need to look into building a highly portable oval. Slot car tracks fill all of my available permanent space. A mag track that can be set up outdoors on saw horses and light enough to be picked up and carried by myself would be ideal.

Re: NASCAR Ovals
Your experimenting with weight is interesting. Were you able to achieve the optimum 3.5 oz. weight with a hard body? I assume no interior was used or perhaps with a vacuformed interior tray? I have some old black windowed Scalelextric Nascar bodies here that might be good candidates for a stretched ...

Wire
The mig welding wire that Lasp shows is the most readily available in almost any local. I bought a roll of music wire from a seller on Ebay. It was actually listed as dulcimer wire in the auction. It wasn't expensive and one roll of wire will make a lot of magsteer tracks. As I mentioned before, I b...
