Kim,
That is some great footage, as you said if it wasn't so erratic. The camera runs off the car battery? How much does it weigh?

Re: modular track idea
Hi Ned, For the holes I used a forstner bit for the large ones the connectors fit in. I used a long 1/4" bit for the dowel holes. I clamped the edges of the boards together just as they would be oriented once assembled, stood them on end perpendicular to my drill press table, and drilled down t...

Re: modular track idea
This is the first section with the outside 1x2 and 1x3 frames attached to the bottom plywood. You will notice the connectors in place along the left edge, I pinched a piece of sheet metal between the adjoining frames so that when I lay the MDF on top it will have an edge to fit up against so the edg...

A few more pictures These are some of the gap lane changes. The spacing of the wires is 12mm and the gaps are somewhere around 50mm. As I said they all work, except if you turn in the wrong direction than what you intend, you will crash. http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k570/brirobyg/track%202%20...

Re: modular track idea
Hi Ned, I used the Keld method with the Dremel saw attachment. I had clamped the sections all together and made sure to make my cuts across the joints without stopping because it was difficult to stay right on my drawn lines (learned that the hard way on some of my early cuts). I used .029 for just ...

Re: modular track idea
Okay, I'm trying pictures again. This is my layout on 5 sheets of 4' x 8' 1/4" MDF, all five being cut in half so there is a total of 10 4' square sections. For my first attempt I used the two far left and the two lower right sections joined together as you'll see. The other 6 sections will be ...

Re: BLST for Magracing any thoughts ?
Hi Kim, I just made a portion of my first track and used the idea of having a default racing line, as well as three default lanes. With the track being three lanes wide, there was really no way of laying out the wire so that there would not be lines either converging or crossing over, so my feeling ...

Re: The Magic of Lane Change Plates
Ned is making perfectly good points here. I recently set up my first track utilizing the gap lane changes, and while they all work properly, they do not prevent the car from exiting the wire if the wrong steering input is made, and I found that at lower speeds, they are not reliable and can allow th...

Re: BLST for Magracing any thoughts ?
Hi Kim,
Sorry I have to ask what BLST means, I'll hopefully know when I read it, but I'm just drawing a blank.
Thanks
Brian
