Would it be of common interest to put up a table of what we have verified to work ?

Containing

Transmitter name and link?, Receiver and link, ESC or motor servo and link, Steering-servo and link, battery V + number of cells, gimmicks, - Comments

Anything missing ?

Ned, would you like input to this thread? The following components were driving my 917 around the floor a few minutes ago:

Steering servo Hobby king HK5320 This seems to be powerful enough and it's small

ESC Aliexpress F05427 10 A brushed two way no brake Needs two Li ion cells to run the motor I wish one would do it would save space

I'm using a Frsky receiver that's smaller than the Flysky and matches my airplane transmitter. I'm looking for a really small Flysky receiver that has servo outputs rather than a "bus "output.

Sorry Kim, I saw Ned's name on the index and though he had started the thread.

Can someone measure the Flysky receiver without it's case?

Very impressive, Kim. I see your ESC is working on one cell. I better do some more investigation.
