Sauber Mercedes C9

Post by WesR »

In view of the interest in different bodies, I just remembered the Sauber
GT body I made some time ago but left it to concentrate on the 1970's
sports cars. The body is a little long (I guess I was looking ahead to
a longer/adjustable chassis) but it is the correct width. There is no wing
or decals. The windscreen shown was black masking tape. We don't
have any in stock but if there is any interest, I could make a few.
Price would be around $5 and I would have to check post costs.

I like the Sauber very much Wes, is there any chance of running mates? Maybe clear rather than white plastic? That reminds me Wes, what is the type of plastic that you are using for the bodies?

We'd probably pick one up if you made one. It would be great if it had uprights for a wing, but even without it, it's nice looking. A bit modern look is appreciated for the younger of us out there. ;)

Paul, I guess by running mate you are thinking of something similar date and style.
1988 ish. Probably a good era for ease of vac forming. I have to go to South of France
tomorrow for a week 8-) (such a bined!) but when I get back maybe I could leave the track
for a few days and have a go at something. The plastic we are using is High Impact Polystyrene. Easy to obtain and mould and ok for sports bodies but I appreciate that clear would be better
for GT/saloons. I will make a wing for the Sauber also.

I decided to do some more work on the Sauber and fit a rear wing and also to extend a chassis to suit.
Chassis extension is about .312" (7mm) Just a piece of 2mm plastic with a thinner plastic plate on top, epoxied together. Seems to go well.

Raudi made a body modification just the other week that's very similar. I'll add some pictures here so you can see them...
