I use a Latex gloves Just clip the finger and you get Tyres, soft ones, but a very good grip
You can add some masking tape before.

is it possible to get black gloves?

Did you try them Lasp, I think that it maybe give too much grip. and they are also thin so the don't work for long.

:yes
I have seen black gloves, but a little bit thicker rubber. Anyone think of wide rubber bands, cut enough to glue around the wheel and there you go .

I don't think rubber will do any good for the handling, it is just like reel racing cars with a lot of power, put the foot down and the car spins.

If the cars do get to much grip you could just dirty up the track a bit. That technique could also be used to slow down unwanted short cuts or unrealistic race lines.
Got to race on a rally track that the owner put old coco powder down on it. It was a blast to drive, rooster tails in the corners, dirty cars, bad traction at places, just like actual driving conditions. And just drop the car in cup of hot water at the end of the day and you had a cup of hot coco. :rolf

My slot and magsteer tracks are out in my very dusty work shop. Dust is a way of life for me.

I too am one to vote for rubber tires. Hard compound rubber is fine, maybe even coat the tread with nail polish to lessen traction like some slot racers do with their front tires, but seeing a black rubber sidewall on a nicely detailed wheel is the cat's meow for me.

I use a rubber self-healing electrical tape.
It works perfectly and after 6 weeks of play they haven't separated.
They can be treated, and even trued up with sandpaper - to me this is the best I have found by far, so far.

It is Scotch brand, #2242 Rubber Electrical Tape - I found mine at Lowes.
