New ESC

Post by WesR »

I recently came across a new esc from Bangood which arrived yesterday. Had it running within the hour and it looks very promising. It is - '2.7a 1S dual way micro brush esc 3.3 - 6v winch reversing with overheat protection with wires'
Cost was £5.41 plus postage.
You can just about see it above the motor on the photo, it's only about 9mm x 12. The brake works perfectly, not too strong and reverse works without the two trigger movements. The extra good factor is, for me, that it is fitted with a std. jst socket for the receiver and leads for the motor. Not sure what it is intended for - winches are on boats I believe!, but so far it is working well

Discussing body mounting yesterday prompted me to try the horizontal front pin again, as can be seen here. This worked well, saves the cost of 2 magnets and is easy to do and I shall continue to test it.

Why no tire on one front wheel?

Well spotted Ned! The wheels and tyres are vacuum formed in one piece. The black tyre is in fact black paint! Just haven't got round to painting the other yet. I find that minimal grip on the front makes for the best lane changing.
These wheels now have the stub axles fixed into them and these run in the king pin blocks. I think we discussed this some time ago. The bearing length in the block can be as much as 8mm compared to 5mm max. in the wheel so technically much better and I may now go this way.

Hello Wes,
I'm only just catching up with the Forum and noticed your 1:24 scale chassis incorporating the ECS from Bangood. Very Impressed.

I do realise this is only a prototype but I do think you are on the right track with this one.
I'll keep an eye on the Forum now to see if this develops.

Coincidentally, I've just ordered a very basic £33.00 1:28 scale Drift car from Bangood at £33.00
simply to learn more about how RC cars work.

Kindest Regards,
Jim
