I made a few minor changes to my original design.
Made room for IRsensors at 6mm apart so you don't have to cut of collar on the IR to fit them.
Added holes to thread wires trough if you daisychain them.

I have some to share if you cover my cost.

Soon to be fitted to track.
Power are chained and each signal cable will go to one Arduino pin.

Keepeing the old sensors until properly tested.

New Start-Finish.
Putting a piece of clear tape over the gap to stop dust.
Acid test Tuesday, Safe racing-day coming up.

3 sensor plate for racing and one for pit mounted.

Quite tidy I think.

Status:

Very reliable counting no miss noticed on the 3 lanes. (2 x 10 races)

In pit lane :
I did put the sensor closer to the surface - not sure that was brilliant idea. We had several not counted passing's.
And on testing today I found slow passing works ok, not at full speed.
But who would do full speed in pit lane ?????

Aside from that I also used fewer sensor in pit, only in every second mounting hole.

Remedy : Going to lower the sensor in the track. If that is not sufficient, add more sensors.
