I did route it at 0.9 mm deep to have some play. Work great. Finding a technique to lay it flush with the surface is important. Lesson learned. I'm still in 0.7mm wire. But I can see that using larger wire can be easier to build. Might have to try.

I tried with a small Delrin ball on the guide to keep the distance. But it was not better.
