Re: Idea on different guide wire set-up allowing cars to ski

Thats why I suggested using a coil instead of a magnet. It can be turned of when steering is enabled. You might even be able to do without wires on the straights after the car is already going straight out of a corner (except maybe on the 2 outsides that turn inwards on the end of the straight so ca...

Re: Idea on different guide wire set-up allowing cars to ski

Can you draw a sketch to make me understand it better?

I also wrote some points on the steering item: viewtopic.php?p=3142#p3142 (and link in there). Maybe it gives you more ideas ;-).

Re: future of magracing

There already is a coil on the car for steering? And it looks like the hardware can be pretty small: http://www.rfduino.com/product/rfd22301-rfduino-ble-smt/index.html even smaller: https://www.simblee.com/ might even be smaller then the current board. Also it looks like others already did it for ba...

future of magracing

Recently there was a disappointing post here about the direction of magracing. I cannot find it anymore but still felt the need to reply. I am one of the people who do not have a magracing setup yet because it takes quite some time, money and space to get it going. I read plenty of comments on the s...

Re: Magracing - where now?

Concerning cost of track: The cost of materials to build a light weight sectional track, 60 cm x 10 meter (about 64 sq ft), that is portable and can be placed on a flat stable surface is around $100 US or 89 Euro. The materials would be 1" thick XPS rigid foam insulation board, wire, lane chan...

Re: Radio Control Slot Cars

A slot, that's to bad. Well you already kinda mentioned it in your title. I think its a pity to swap the wire for a slot since being able to get back onto the wire after an 'off' situation so easily seems a big advantage. Also as noted in my post here: http://magracingforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&am...

Re: Magracing - where now?

If it is quick but not to quick it means more pitstops which can even be good?

Re: Radio Control Slot Cars

Is this a commercial/crowdfunding project? Do you have any details about availability, options, extendability&flexibility, weights& storage sizes, pricing etc.?

Re: Magracing - where now?

I also wondered if it is an option to use a coil instead of a magnet for the guiding. This way the force can be easily adjusted by changing the power. Also this would enable the magnet to stop working when steering (need a straight option) and thus enable lane changes everywhere independend on the w...

Re: Hi + a couple of questions

With the lane change plates is it possible to create a 3 way change point - left + straight + right Iirc I saw one of the examples which had a steer right to take the optimal line, a straight to take the corner normally and a left to enter the pitlane. I get the concept that the magnet/car follows ...
