Re: New, and in need of assistance!!
Hi Terry and welcome to magracing :) I really like the twistiness of the track. It should make your races really challenging and exciting because the drivers will always have to worry about speed control. The lack of a long straight will probably also mean that the cars will not reach full speed. Th...

Home-built lap counter
Since I started doing magracing I've been thinking about options for building a lap counter. I know that there are commercial solutions, but the $300 or so it would cost me to buy one of those is quite simply too expensive for me. Today I made a really big breakthrough with the assistance of a frien...

Tiny test track
The picture below shows a really, really small track I built recently. The purpose of the track was to experiment with different ways of building tracks and making lane changes and so on. Small test track A few measurements for good measure: :) Board size: 0.8m x 1.2m (~ 32" x 48" ) Inner ...

Re: Track building question
Below is a close-up of a plastered track. As mentioned above and on the magracing website you should keep the track surface at the same height as the wires and as flat/level as possible.

Re: Blackpond racetrack
The video below was filmed with a handheld phone so it's a bit shaky, but it should be possible to see the track in action. The feet belong to a coworker's son. I think he was about five years old and while he didn't really grasp the concept of the racing lines and the lane changes he quickly got th...

Re: Blackpond racetrack
Thank you, Wes. The cars performed really well. The only real issue was that one of them must have had a few crashes too many so the cables from the controller board to the engine got twisted off. But that's nothing that can't be easily fixed once I figure out where I've hidden my soldering iron. Oh...

Re: First four paint jobs
Thanks
Even though I've lost a lot of my painting skills they did seem to come out quite nicely.
The track is indeed modular. For logistic and practical reasons I could not use large sheets but settled on using 0.8m x 1.2m sheets.

Blackpond racetrack
This is the first (real) track I've built and all things considered it went fairly well. I need to do some more experiments with the lane changes to get them right, but I see that as part of the experience :) Blackpond 01 800w.png Blackpond 800x600.jpg Since this track was used for a competition at ...

First four paint jobs
Some of these went fairly well, a couple aren't that good. The orange and blue cars were hand painted with brushes rather than spray paints and that didn't turn out too well. Brush strokes/marks are fairly visible and the paint gets scratched really quick.

More magracing in Denmark
Hi everyone! After a few weeks, erm, months of making small experiments and getting the things I needed to build an actual track I figured it was about time to join this forum and post some info on what I'm working on and a few lessons learned. My main reason for taking up magracing as a hobby was t...
