Re: Magnetic force measuring.

This is a rough sketch of what I had in mind for an alternative steering mechanism.
For, narrower bodies, centering the mag coil, and to allow "solid" front wheels, for bearings and or rims.

Re: Magnetic force measuring.

I was thinking about the multiple magnet thing again last night. It should help the car stay in the proper line, in areas where the wire routes cross each other. At least I hope it does not hinder it any... How did it effect lane changes? did they need to be longer? Another thing that might help kee...

Re: Magnetic force measuring.

When I previously mentioned using a wheel or ball bearing magnet, I was imagining a hinged guide arm just like those. If the ball can be mounted freely enough like a ball point pen tip, it should be able to roll in the cars running direction, and sideways, for lane changes. I was also wondering, wha...

Just about all of the RP machine materials shrink after cooling and curing.

Still waiting for my own RP machine to get here, more delays...

Re: Suggestions Sought for New Chassis Design

I just ordered myself a new Form 2 for $3500 USD, plus some extra resin. I will not have it for 12 weeks though, that is how long they are back ordered. So I have plenty of time to work on my own chassis designs. Already drew ideas in 2D, based on a super universal/adjustable 4wd Mini-Z chassis desi...

Re: Magracing notes, Nov. 2015

Sketchup is very easy, due to there being so few buttons to make it confusing. If you have never drawn anything in 3D, you are not likely to produce anything useable, due to some not so obvious quirks with working with CAD. Things have to be EXACT you cannot just draw a line close to another line an...

Re: Magnetic force measuring.

I have always wondered what would happen if the guide arm magnet was replaced with a magnetic sphere, that was some how mounted in the arm in a way that would allow it to roll and touch the track surface. Similar to a ball point pen... Or maybe it can just be a round magnet with a hole for an axle, ...

Re: Idea on different guide wire set-up allowing cars to ski

Many ideas have been had for magsteer cars. But eventually we end up back to were we are, with what Wes currently has. I thought about using 3 different coils, in place of the lead magnet. The lane changes would then simply be a parallel wire, to the left, or right, of the main center wire. The circ...

Re: Idea on different guide wire set-up allowing cars to ski

I think for the most part the cars may drive right over each wire in an almost straight line, each time only adjusting toward the center angle poing a little bit. The angle would have to be more acute than 30 degrees. I do not think that would work on curves... if you were to the outside of the curv...
